DAY 2: EXPLORE ANGKOR TEMPLES BY REMORK
Spend the day exploring the magnificent Angkor complex on a remork (motorcycle rickshaw) tour. Angkor Wat, the main temple after which the entire site is named, was established in 802 by the self-proclaimed "God King" Jayavarman II and served as the Khmer Empire's capital for over 500 years. This expansive UNESCO World Heritage Site, the largest religious monument in the world, spans 494 acres (2 sq km) and features more than 1,000 buildings, including numerous temples adorned with thousands of bas-relief apsaras, or heavenly maidens. Start early to fully experience this awe-inspiring site.
Begin your tour at the visitor center and the moated Angkor Wat Hindu temple complex. Next, visit the adjoining Angkor Thom complex, the last capital of the Khmer Empire, where highlights include the Bayon temple (also known as the Temple of Faces), the Terrace of the Leper King, and the Terrace of the Elephants. Continue to the former Royal Bathing Pool of Sra Srang, followed by Ta Prohm, famously known as the "Tomb Raider" temple, and perhaps the iconic Pre Rup crematorium temple. After a day of exploration, return to your hotel to relax, or choose your favorite temple for a sunset photo before heading back to Siem Reap.

DAY 3: SIEM REAP IN DEPTH
This morning, delve into the countryside around Siem Reap for an immersive local cultural experience. Start with a visit to the APOPO Visitor Center, where you'll meet and learn about the renowned giant hero rats used to safely detect landmines still scattered across the Cambodian countryside. Continue your journey north to Banteay Srei (Citadel of Women), a stunning temple dedicated to the Hindu god Shiva, surrounded by serene lotus ponds. The temple, carved from red sandstone, features intricate bas-relief carvings of women holding lotus flowers and scenes from the Ramayana epic.
In the afternoon, head south to Tonlé Sap Lake, a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve and the largest freshwater lake in Southeast Asia. Board a traditional wooden boat to visit the stilted village of Kompong Phluck, where local women will row you through a seasonally flooded freshwater swamp forest. After returning to Siem Reap, take some time to relax before ending your day with a performance by the Phare Cambodian Circus. Founded in 1994 as vocational training for refugees, this company presents uniquely Cambodian stories through theater, music, dance, and modern circus arts.

DAY 4: EXPERIENCES BETWEEN SIEM REAP & PHNOM PENH
Depart Siem Reap after breakfast this morning and journey to Phnom Penh, taking the day to enjoy the scenic Cambodian countryside along the way. Your first stop is the 12th-century Spean Praptos bridge. At 285 feet (87 meters) long, it is the largest corbelled stone arch bridge in the world and is still in use today. The bridge is adorned with balustrades shaped like nine-headed nagas (divine half-human, half-serpent beings). Next, visit Santuk Silk Farm for a guided tour that provides fascinating insights into the life cycle of silkworms, the process of silk production, and traditional village weaving. Your visit supports the farm, which was founded by a war veteran to provide employment for locals.
After enjoying a delicious lunch at the farm, continue your journey south towards Phnom Penh. Along the way, you'll make a brief stop in Skuon, known as "Spiderville," where you can witness the local specialty of deep-fried tarantulas being sold in the markets, a delicacy for many Cambodians. Arriving in Phnom Penh in the late afternoon, you will have the rest of the day to relax and unwind before exploring the capital city tomorrow.

One of the standout features here is the Silver Pagoda, with its floor of gleaming silver tiles and numerous Buddha statues, including three Buddhas made of pure gold, silver, and bronze, and a fourth adorned with over 2,000 diamonds in the Temple of the Emerald Buddha. Nearby, the National Museum offers a journey through a millennium of Khmer history, stretching back to pre-Angkorian times.
In the afternoon, take some time to relax at your hotel, or delve into the somber history of Cambodia during the Khmer Rouge regime (1975-1979) with visits to the Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum and the Choeung Ek Genocidal Center. Here, an audio guide will lead you through the infamous Killing Fields. Later in the afternoon, enjoy an evening foodie tour by remork, starting at the Central Market (Psar Thmei) to sample local snacks and fruits, including the notorious durian. We highly recommend Custom Asia Travel for your trip to Southeast Asia! They provided a great combination of visiting historical and religious sites, temples, and also cultural connections in Thailand, Laos and Cambodia that we could have never made on our own. Our local guides were informative, and shared personal experiences that made our journey meaningful. We asked for an active trip, and Custom Asia Travel tailored our request with biking, kayaking and hiking. We enjoyed local cuisine in Laos, and were amazed by the history and significance of the temples in Cambodia, experienced via a beautiful bike tour.

We did a day trip in a Jeep in Ninh Binh with Thu, which included Trang An, Hang Mua, Bich Dong and Tam Coc. Thu was an amazing tour guide and was extremely helpful throughout the whole day, organising everything from start to finish and giving us insightful information about the things we saw, as well as life in Vietnam and it’s history more generally! The lunch was also great and the day turned out to be one of the best days of our trip! Couldn’t recommend Thu enough 😊

We had an amazing time! Me and my friends visited the Halong/Lan Ha Bay and the Dry Halong Bay. Everything was perfectly organized & all the pick-ups were punctual. The guide and driver were very nice. The cruise ship and the eco lodge, in which we stayed, were great. The staff was very friendly and everything was clean. We can definitely recommend booking a trip with Custom Asia Travel! The organisation and contact with the company was great before, during and after the trip.

I cannot say enough positives about Custom Asia Travel! We visited Vietnam in December/January 2023 and had an amazing trip with our 3 teens. The itinerary exceeded our expectations! We travelled to Hanoi, Ninh Binh, Ha Long Bay, Hoi An, and Nha Trang. We had no issues with any of our transportation around the country - our drivers and guides were always there on time (early, actually), friendly and helpful. The accommodations were excellent and our guides were fantastic (Tanh, Tanh, and Viet - they were awesome!). Every place we stayed put our rooms right next to each other, often adjoining, and the kids’ room always had two twin beds and a cot, while my husband and I had a king bed. This was perfect as our teenagers did not want to share beds, lol! The activities were super fun and appealed to all of us. So many highlights - the kids loved the rice farm tour (riding the water Buffalo elicited the biggest smile we’ve ever seen from our 16 year old!), seeing the caves in Ninh Binh, the cooking class in Hoi An, and Ha Long Bay. I really appreciated that some of our itinerary was focused on less crowded activities - a couple of the temples we saw were practically empty, allowing us to enjoy and experience these beautiful sites on our own. We did a couple of bike rides which were also highlights, such a great way to explore and see the area! Minh was available and responsive while planning the trip and while we were there. I agree with others reviews about whether she ever sleeps! She was able to coordinate our luggage getting dropped off as it did not arrive with us, and contacted one of the hotels about a ring that had been left, and arranged for us to pick it up. She was warm, friendly, knowledgeable, and so helpful. We truly had a relaxing and stress free trip because of the excellent customer service from Minh and our guides. With only having 12 days to visit we were so grateful to be able to enjoy the travel and know that Minh and her team were there if and when needed. I highly recommend using this company, you will not regret it! Now I am dreaming of how quickly we can make it back!! Thank you thank you to Minh and the team, our trip was unforgettable!
